After a while spent dabbling in various forms of country, Neil Young almost casually invents grunge on the devastating Rust Never Sleeps. Thematically inspired in part by hanging out with Devo, Young lets his dirty, "shakey" style of lead guitar take the lead on the second half (where he is joined by the wild stallions of Crazy Horse), whilst the first half presents a contemplative acoustic set. And, of course, there's the elephant in the room in the form of My My, Hey Hey (or is it Hey Hey, My My), which gave the world Kurt Cobain's suicide note.
