This album is not overrated!
All grunge is/was good, but who is still around? Pearl Jam. Not to say anything about the other bands, but PJ has something the other bands didn't. They aren't perfect, but thats the beauty of the band and of the music. They're best live, this album was recorded as if they were playing live, and you can tell it is in that vein that they shine the most. I've heard this said before by someone else, but Eddie Vedder's voice sounds like he has double tracked his voice, when he hasn't. The vocals are deep and rich, like he has two sets of vocal chords or something. His songwriting and vocals really are what make this album exceptional. That said, the rest of the band is perfect. Jeff Ament is one of the best bassists around, and McCready and Gossard really rock on this record (although Mike is really in his element with blues solos, not wah-wah abuse).Every song is great if you listen to it enough. Its a close call, but Alive really is the best track on here. Its overrated, but Jeremy is great too. Black, Release, and Oceans are masterpieces. Listen to Eddie on Release and tell me you don't hear one of the best voices in music history.

Debut studio album by American rock band Pearl Jam, released on August 27, 1991 through Epic Records. Ten (named after Mookie Blaylock's jersey number) contained eleven tracks dealing with dark subjects like depression, suicide, loneliness, and murder. Ten's musical style, influenced by classic rock, combined an "expansive harmonic vocabulary" with an anthemic sound. The album was slow to sell, but by the second half of 1992 it became a breakthrough success, being certified gold and reaching number two on the Billboard charts. Ten produced the hit singles "Alive", "Even Flow", and "Jeremy". To date the album has sold over 10 million copies! Pressed on standard black vinyl.
