Sketches of Brunswick East is the eleventh studio album by Australian psychedelic rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and third by Mild High Club. The title is a reference to the Melbourne suburb of Brunswick East and Miles Davis’ 1960 LP Sketches of Spain, which inspired the album's jazz-oriented sound. It was released on 18 August 2017 by ATO Records. The album is a collaboration with Mild High Club member Alex Brettin, and is prominently jazz-based. It was nominated for Best Jazz Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 2017.

Available: 1 x 1LP 180g Heavyweight vinyl

This will forever be my favourite both King Gizzard and Mild High Club album. The structures are way more interesting and the amount of influences is bigger, from jazz to bossa nova, never losing the original psychedelia both bands are most familiar with. Jazz had been present before in King Gizzard records like Quarters!, but never as a main genre, and even less combined with one like bossa nova.
In addition, the songs are perfectly connected, making the album sound like a whole unified project, which makes me consider it a progressive rock record as well.

I would write a short paragraph for each song like I did in other reviews but not only do I have trouble thinking of this as something else than a big perfect song, but also all of the tracks are equally amazing, with the exception of Tezeta and You Can Be Your Silhouette which are even superior than the rest. It's a pity that some King Gizzard fans are so narrow minded that they can't appreciate something that doesn't sound exactly like their previous stuff, because this is an extremely underrated masterpiece.
