Forget the Mod Anthems moniker, this is just great sixties music. This is what we danced to and it was the foundation of our record collecting for the ensuing decades. Great soul and reggae music. For many of us in the London suburbs the hairy peace and love white boy guitar stuff was an irrelevance. We ignored the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Moody Blues and other twang groups because we had discovered what was really relevant. Motown, Stax, Atlantic, Studio One and Treasure Isle were all that mattered and lifelong passions followed. The sixties was a wonderful decade for sharp clothes, shiny shoes and short hair. Of course there were long haired gimps dancing on top of the pops but they were as acutely embarrassing then as they are now in retrospect.
