One of the few '80s rock albums that actually stands up to time and a multitude of plays. "Need You Tonight", "New Sensation", "Never Tear Us Apart", and "Devil Inside" were all gigantically sensational hits, and hell the rest of the album was actually just is good and could have been released a singles as well. They never sound cheesy although they were obviously writing rock songs influenced influenced heavily by pop sensibilities. Hutchence's voice is just the thing to keep this from sounding too light, for he has a darker tone to it, and actually comes across sounding a bit like Depeche Mode's Martin Gore. All in all, one of the few popular rock albums that actually deserve their reputation.
