12 classic Johnny Cash performances reimagined via new symphonic arrangements recorded at Abbey Road Studios. 'Johnny Cash and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra' is part of a series of RPO albums showcasing classic recordings by timeless artists in sublime new musical settings. Recorded at the fabled Abbey Road Studio 2, the album is executive produced by John Carter Cash and produced by Nick Patrick with Don Reedman. Featuring contributions from Duane Eddy, Bob Dylan, June Carter-Cash and The Highwaymen.

I did wonder whether Johnny Cash remixed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra would actually work but I'm delighted to report that this is a truly delightful collection. The tracks sound better than ever and the highlights for me were "Farther Along" also featuring Duane Eddy, Man in Black (which to my ears never sounded better) and of course "Ring of Fire" which is especially suited to the RPO remix. You also get an written introduction by John Carter Cash which is very interesting. I also think one or two of the tracks are previously unreleased alternative takes which is really nice. I certainly think the concept deserves a volume 2 like the RPO did with Elvis and Roy Orbison a few years ago. Enjoy.
